I recently found a site that “translates” music into different moods with the help of the community.

The site reads:

“behind every song there’s always an emotion. we don’t know why but maybe that’s why we love music.

so we’ve created a way to suggest songs that follow your feelings: stereomood is the emotional internet radio, providing music that best suits your mood and your activities.

how do i feel? what am i doing now?

So what do you do? Are you also categorizing your iTunes playlists on your iPod for different moods or situations? I personally have such list; one for doing sports, one for after-work chill and also some for driving long distances and so on. This could probably be a new nice ad-on for iTunes music player and Genius. What do you think?

If you want to learn more about emotions and music, I can recommend the book by Mr. Haverkamp about Synaestetic Design. It is not only about designing products, the author is also a musician and synaesthesia is also a phenomenon that happens with tunes.
